Before completing our owner surrender application, please read and agree to the below rules.
We do NOT take your dog. Your dog remains in your care & custody until an adopter is found.
If your dog is not safe to be around, well-behaved, or manageable in your home, we understand how difficult that can be. However, we also have to carefully consider whether rehoming is the right and responsible solution — our top priority is always the safety and well-being of both the dog and any potential adopter.
To be eligible for our rehoming program, your dog must be spayed or neutered, up to date on all core vaccinations, and have a recent negative heartworm test. These requirements are in place to ensure we’re setting every dog — and family — up for success.
We recognize that some situations are more complicated than others. If you’re facing exceptional hardship and do not meet all of the above criteria, we are open to reviewing your circumstances on a case-by-case basis. In these situations, a phone interview will help us determine how best to proceed.
If your dog is accepted into our rehoming program, you will be asked to:
Keep your dog in your care until a suitable adopter is found
Provide complete and current veterinary records
Assist with the transportation of your dog to its new home
Sign a surrender agreement when placement occurs
Make a minimum $50 donation to help cover administrative costs
Accept responsibility to reclaim your dog if the adoption is not successful within 31 days
If you are unable or unwilling to meet these expectations, we may not be able to assist with rehoming at this time.
Thank you for your understanding and for your commitment to finding the best possible outcome for your dog.
