IHi there, I’m Amethyst — a soft-hearted, soulful Rottweiler with a sparkle in my eye and so much love to give. I’m currently with REAL Rottweiler Rescue, and I’m looking for my forever person — someone who will see past my timid shell and discover the silly, sweet, loyal girl underneath.

Before I came to REAL, life was really hard. I was a victim of hoarding and neglect, living in a crate surrounded by filth, with no training and no one to show me love or kindness. I didn’t know what it felt like to be safe, clean, or cared for. But thanks to some amazing humans who believed in me, I’m learning now — and I’m blooming more every day.

My foster mom calls me her “sour patch kid” — I can be a little shy at first (especially if I’m alone), but once I warm up, I turn into a total lovebug who just wants to be near you.

Here’s a little more about me:

I love car rides and am a total angel in the car — I’ll quietly nap if it’s a long trip, no backseat driving from me!

I'm a quiet girl — I seldom bark unless I’m excited to eat or play fetch, and even then, it’s all happy sounds.

I’m great for nail trims, ear cleaning, and baths (as long as you use a cup instead of the scary shower sprayer, please and thank you).

I adore toys, balls, stuffies, and chew bones — I’m always ready for a little playtime.

I’m very food motivated (ice cubes included!), which makes learning new things fun.

I live with teenagers (14 and 16) and do really well with them. I can get a bit mouthy when I’m overexcited, but I take redirection like a champ.

I walk nicely on a leash after my initial “YAY WE’RE WALKING!” excitement, and I truly match the energy of my human. Want to go for a stroll? I’m in. Play a quick game of fetch? Let’s go. Just want to chill and watch a movie? I’ll be your cozy couch companion.

Because of my past, loud noises and sudden movements can scare me, especially when I’m alone. I also get nervous when someone grabs my collar unexpectedly. But please know I’ve never shown aggression — my reactions are fear-based, not mean. I’m just trying to protect myself the only way I knew how.

I would thrive best in a quiet, slower-paced, female-led home, and I gain so much confidence when there’s another calm dog around. When I have a dog friend to lean on, I feel so much braver.

Once I trust you, I’ll lean on you too — literally! I’ll do the classic Rottie lean, greet you with silly vocalizations, and soak up every bit of love and attention. I love sunbathing, napping, chewing on bones, and just enjoying the peace of a safe home — something I never had before.

I know my forever is out there — someone patient, gentle, and kind who understands that healing takes time, but love is always worth it.
