Across the country, thousands of dogs enter shelters every day with little chance of receiving medical care or finding a home. Rural shelters are especially overwhelmed and rely heavily on rescues to pull dogs in order to save their lives. Each year, hundreds of thousands of dogs are euthanized simply because there is no space or funding to care for them.

Over the past five years, R.E.A.L. Rottweiler Rescue has rescued an average of 150 dogs each year, providing them with medical care, safe housing, and the opportunity to find loving homes.

Caring for these dogs comes at a significant cost. Our annual veterinary expenses alone range from $50,000 to $75,000, and adoption fees do not come close to covering those costs. Routine vetting includes spay or neuter, vaccinations, and microchipping, along with additional care when needed.

Recently, we have focused heavily on saving dogs from southern states where euthanasia rates are among the highest in the country. Without rescue help, many of these dogs would never get a second chance.

It costs about $700 to provide life saving medical care for one dog, covering spay or neuter, vaccinations, and a microchip so they can be safely adopted. A $1,000 donation makes a complete rescue possible, covering transport, boarding when no foster is available, and all required medical care to pull a dog from a high risk shelter. No matter the amount, every dollar helps move a dog closer to safety and a second chance, and we are deeply grateful for every gift.
